About the Producer
The estate can trace its history back to the late 16th century. For over two hundred years it belonged to the Lafon family who managed to keep hold of it through the turmoil of the French Revolution. They also lived to see its ultimate recognition in the 1855 classification, when Lafon-Rochet was admitted to the very select club of great growths, one of only five in Saint-Estèphe. The family sold it in 1897 and it passed through various hands until 1960 when it was brought by Guy Tesseron of the famous Cognac-producing family who demolished the estate’s buildings and rebuilt them from scratch.
Now run by his son Basile Tesseron, the property has one of the best terroirs in Bordeaux. The estate of 45 hectares is on a gravelly rise not far from Pauillac and overlooks first growth Lafite Rothschild and second growth Cos d’Estournel. Vineyard management follows many organic principles and Basile continues with love the projects of his father, both in the vineyard, in the cellars and the chateau.
Serving Guide: We recommend opening and decanting for an hour before serving to enjoy the full flavours of this wine. Alternatively pour 100ml quantities into larger glasses and let it open up for 15 minutes before serving. Drinking nicely now with good potential to age and should continue to mature until 2030+

Black fruits, hints of leather and cassis
Chateau Lafon-Rochet 2010 is an impressive wine from a very good vintage. This classic claret has a charming nose where aromas of black fruits, toast and smoke, liquorice and blackberry abound. On the palate, it has a melange of spicy ripe black fruits with hints of fresh blueberries, dark cherry, leather and cassis. Rich and opulent with a good tannic structure that holds everything together, it has a long persistent finish that is full of little nuances of pleasure making it very satisfying indeed. A wonderful Saint-Estèphe wine!
