Description
Discover the delicious taste of Comté Cheese. Made from the finest milk sourced exclusively from Montbéliarde and Simmental cows, which graze on the lush pastures of the Jura Massif. This cheese embodies the enduring tradition and heritage of French cheesemaking of the region. Which lies between the gentle slopes of the Jura mountain range to the south and the Vosges mountains to the north in Eastern France.
The cheese making process begins with gently heating the milk in copper pots and adding rennet to form curds. These curds are then carefully cut and pressed into large molds. The resulting cheese wheels undergo several months of aging in maturing cellars. Regularly turned and salted, each Comté Cheese develops its smooth silky texture, pale gold colour and rich, nutty sweet flavour.
Comté is a really versatile cheese. It makes a fantastic addition to any cheese board. Pair with fruits, charcuterie and a fine bottle of wine and serve with some warm crusty bread. However, its ability to melt easily also means it can be added to all kinds of recipes. Ranging from scones, muffins and bread to gratins, fondue, quiches and salads. Comté will give each dish a delicious rich cheese flavour.
If you haven’t tried Comté Cheese before, you are in for a real gourmet treat. So why not elevate your culinary adventures with this wonderful artisan French cheese. You won’t regret it!
