Food and Wine Pairing
Provence Rosé is very flexible food wise and is definitely perfect on its own but can equally be an excellent accompaniment with charcuterie, white meats such as chicken and pork dishes and of course a Salad Niçoise.
Equally good with Pâtés, have a browse through our Charcuterie and Pâtés & Terrines sections to pick out something new to try with this perfect Provence pink.
About the Producer
Provence has only in recent times become the popular tourist destination we know and love today and the Rosé explosion was in a distant future when the famers and grape growers around the ancient village of Puget-Ville, situated just west of Saint-Tropez, decided to band together in a cooperative to make and sell their wines in 1922. At the time the cooperative was known as the ‘Pugétoise’ but we won’t hold that against them and they saw the light in 1987 and renamed after the village tower known as Sidoine.
The tower is surrounded by vineyards and dates back to the 11th century. Sidoine himself was a man born blind, was healed by Jesus and came to Provence to preach the faith, so now you know…
Rosé has to be made from red grapes, lightly pressed to extract just a pink hue into the juice to be fermented into wine. In Provence the key such red grapes are Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault and Syrah/Shiraz and Saint Sidoine’s 182 members grow and use all of these to create this gorgeous Provence Rosé with bags of sun filled fruity flavours and a clean refreshing finish.
