Description
Our Duck Cassoulet with Toulouse Sausages is perfect to share between two if you are looking for a hearty supper. This comforting rustic stew is made from the finest duck confit and tasty Toulouse sausages. And captures the true taste of traditional cuisine found in the South-West of France.
According to legend, cassoulet was originally invented in the town of Castelnaudary during the Hundred Years’ War. Trapped by the English, the villagers pooled their last scraps of meat and beans, cooking everything together in a giant pot. The soldiers ate it and found the strength to fight off the English invaders and the legend of cassoulet was born!
What was once simple farmhouse fare has been transformed into a rich, slow-cooked delight. Enjoy with some warm crusty baguette to mop up all those fantastic meaty flavours.
Cooking Instructions: To cook your Duck Cassoulet with Toulouse Sausages, preheat your oven to 160 degrees. Pour the cassoulet into a gratin dish and add a little water. If you wish you can top with breadcrumbs and then bake for between 20-25 minutes. It is ready when it starts to bubble. When cooked, sprinkle with some fresh parsley and enjoy with a glass of your favourite red wine.
