Elegant, Rich, Lingering Finish
Meursault, along with Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, are the three most famous villages for Chardonnay in the Cote D’Or. This Premier Cru from Domaine Michelot is found on the mid-slope on the border between Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet.
Domaine Michelot has a reputation for producing wines with clear purity of fruit and stunning depth of flavour. Their vineyards have a mixture of earth and flat volcanic rock which means the vines have to work hard to develop an extensive root system. These conditions bring finesse and a touch of minerality to the wine. This Meursault has pleasing citrus and whipped hazelnut cream aromas with fresh mineral notes. It is rich without being heavy and on the palate has honey and toasted brioche with a long lingering finish.
The Wine Spectator gives it an excellent 90/100 points

About the Producer
Domaine Michelot is one of the finest estates in Burgundy and produces wines of great quality. The domaine first achieved recognition in the 60’s under the charismatic Bernard Michelot. His spirit and tradition still flourishes and grows in the hands of the current generation. Bernard Michelot’s son-in-law, Jean-Francois Mestre took charge in 1993 and today, his son Nicolas directs the winemaking with a focus on purity of fruit and the expression of the terroir in the vineyards. Their wines are simply delicious and display the finest characteristics of great Premier Cru Meursault.
The domaine boasts a total of 19ha of vines, which include a number of prestigious 1er cru wines. Sustainable and natural methods of viticulture are applied to growing the grapes and the wines are matured in oak barrel for 10 to 12 months, using a judicious 15% of new oak for the white wines.
Serving Guide: Serve chilled at between 10-11°C or after about 1 hour in the fridge. Use larger bowl glasses if you can, to let the wine breathe and release all the aromas and flavours. Drinking beautifully now but will certainly give pleasure for the next two or more years
