About the Producer
A fantastic little Chilean Pinot Noir and great value for money to boot. The Pinot Noir grape has its homeland in Burgundy, Eastern France but has proved difficult to grow successfully elsewhere in the world – enter Chile where the cool fogs coming off the chilly Humboldt current and plenty of sunshine gives the right climatic conditions to produce ripe and full flavoured Pinot Noirs that are a joy to sip. The producer, Viña Apaltagua, is a relatively new estate created in 1995 when the successful American businessman Edward Tutunjian was on vacation in Chile. He fell in love with both the country and its surprising wines and planted a vineyard in the cool San Antonio valley where the Pinot Noir grape has thrived, giving us the Zapallares range and our Sommelier Wine Award Gold Medal winning Pinot Noir Reserva.

Smooth, ripe, black raspberry fruit flavours and a long finish. Lots of flavour and not too heavy. Went very well with some charcuterie and cheeses in the afternoon.
