Description
For many, Pont l’Eveque is the king amongst cheeses. It is also one of the oldest Normandy cheeses still being produced today. The story has it that it was introduced by monks in the Pays d’Auge back in the thirteenth century who insisted every fine meal should end with some of this cheese.
Made from cow’s milk, this small square-shaped cheese is pale yellow in colour with an orangey white rind. It is rich and creamy with pronounced aromas and a rustic, farmyard flavour with a sweet earthy finish. Serve with some fresh apples or pears or bake in the box with some fresh thyme.
Cheese and Wine Pairing
Pont l’Eveque is particularly well suited to full bodied red wines so why not try it with a bottle of Chateau Reynier – our classic Claret – or our fantastic Rioja Reserva from North East Spain.
