About the Producer
The Prum family have historical roots in the Mosel region dating back to the 1100s. Their estate comprises of over 40 hectares in the Mosel area of German, with 15 hectares in Wehlener Sonnenhuhr also known as the sundial of Wehlen. This area produces some of the very best Rieslings in the world, the vineyards are extremely steep, with slate soil, and benefit from plenty of sunshine, which help ripen the fruit in an otherwise cool climate.
Serving Guide:Serve chilled at between 10-11°C or after about 1 hour in the fridge. Use larger bowl glasses if you can, to let the wine breathe and release all the aromas and flavours. Drinking beautifully now but great Riesling can last for many years if stored correctly

- Lupin which includes lupin seeds and flour and can be found in types of bread, pastries and pasta
- Molluscs like clams, mussels, whelks, oysters, snails and squid

Fragrant Peach, Apricot and Lime
Riesling Grosse Gewächs Wehlener Sonnenuhr ‘Devon’ is made by S A Prum. This small family estate nestled on the banks of Germany’s Mosel River has an international reputation for producing exquisite Rieslings. This Riesling named ‘Devon’ after the vineyards’s grey slate soil which dates back to prehistoric Devonian time, is no exception.
It is beautifully fragrant with flavours of peach, apricot, lemon peel and lime with hints of honey. The palate is elegantly structured with pronounced mineral character imparted by the slate-rich soil. Ripe and full-bodied with good acidity underneath. Outstanding and so refreshing!
Voted one of Germany’s Top 50 wines in 2017.

Food and Wine Pairing
Aged Rieslings are extraordinarily versatile with food. Because of Riesling’s sweetness and acidity, it is especially good with Asian spicy food so a good match would be a spiced Duck Leg. Also goes well with pork and apple based dishes and for a real treat, pair with an aged goat’s cheese and our Sweet Fig Jam from Corsica.
